Victorian 8.00ct Diamond, Sapphire and Emerald Butterfly Brooch, c.1880s

This one of a kind brooch from the 1880s is encrusted with a colourful collection of diamonds sapphire and emeralds. This enchanting butterflies wings glisten with 8.00 carat total of old mine cut diamonds, all set into silver, as suites the time period. The Diamonds range in colour from G to H and in clarity from VS to SI. A single sapphire decoratively adorns each wing. Rub over set into 18 carat yellow gold, these sapphires are 0.50 carat a piece and totally natural. A further four sapphires can be seen running down the centre of the butterfly, set into 18 carat gold and representing the body. These are also natural sapphires and total a further 1.35 carat. Two 0.10 carat cabochon cut emeralds sit atop of the body to represent the butterflies eyes with gold embellishments above them for the antennae. The back of the piece is entirely crafted from 18 carat yellow gold and features a bar fitting to hold the brooch in place. This piece would make a stunning and truly unique gift.
