Victorian Garnet, Diamond and Ruby Bug Brooch, c.1870

This stunning, handcrafted brooch is shaped in the design of a fly- the wings are composed of half moon, cabochon cut garnets. They have a total weight of 2.00 carat and are supported by rose cut diamonds. They have a combined weight of 0.10 carat and are expertly set. The little bug is accented by its little cabochon cut rubies eyes, weighing 0.02 carat each. It is crafted from 18 carat rose gold, whilst the diamonds are set within silver, typical of the Victorian era. It’s a wonderful and playful piece which would make the ideal gift.
